INTERNATIONAL BE KIND TO YOURSELF WEEK BEGINS ON 8/13

I declare it INTERNATIONAL BE KIND TO YOURSELF WEEK!
For the next SEVEN days...I want you to be kind to yourself.

Get a manicure...

Get a pedicure...

Drink some fancy water...

Buy some new shoes...(It's the perfect time. Lots of them are on clearance right now.)

This summer was rather stressful for our family; the hail storm, Stripes died, and the basement flooded twice.  I'm a pretty practical person, but yesterday I did something very luxurious.  I went to Elements and got a therapeutic massage.

In all honesty, I hope that you WILL do something kind to yourself this week.  I'm taking the entire week away from posting so I can catch up on blog reading and to get ready for SCBWI-KC.  I feel like I've been neglecting some of my blog friends and missing out on a lot of great posts.

Next Friday, I'll put up a post asking  what you did during INTERNATIONAL BE KIND TO YOURSELF WEEK, so be prepared to report back to me...

  2. I love the idea of a be-kind-to-yourself-week. Too often we get caught up in the need-tos and have-tos that we forget about what nourishes our soul to keep us going. Always a good thing to remember!

  3. I love myself, I love myself, I love myself.

And better still, I love myself BETTER when wearing NEW bargain shoes!!!! Oh yes!!!!

But seriously!! Good for you for treating yourself to a massage!! It's so essential to just have time to pamper yourself now and again. I'm all for "me time" especially after such traumas! :-( I hope your basement is going to be ok. I know beautiful Stripes is happy over the bridge and I hope the mad weather season calms down now.

Take care and see you soon!!!

  10. I think I'll get in a few naps. That would be something I could do to be kind to myself. Maybe get a hair cut and color my hair. Tired of the gray.

    Have a great week!

  12. I haven't had a massage in ages. I ought to make time for one again.

I would love to participate, but my attention span seems to have shrunk since I had children. Would you mind calling me up every morning and reminding me I'm supposed to do something nice for myself?

  13. Cute shoes.

I don't know how to do any of the things you listed. Too indulgent. I have a confession to make. I got a gift certificate one year and four months ago for a massage, but haven't used it. What's wrong with me?

Sorry you had so many bad things happen this summer. May it go up from here.

  19. I hear and obey. Off to Trader Joe's to buy myself a steak and beer. I'm a simple man sometimes and this is all I want at the moment. Oh, then a nap too.

  22. Awesome, Sharon! I did buy a pair of clearance shoes this week. Today, I had a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup for lunch. Nothing like a little comfort food to be kind to myself.

  25. AWEsome idea!! I will be kind to myself!! I'm a little late on this, but it's never too late to be good to me. Yahoo! Now I have an excuse. I'll be all like "Uh, I hate to get a massage, Hon. That's the rules."

  26. Good for you, Sharon! I have been doing just that the past couple of weeks, and it does revitalize you, doesn't it? Love those white shoes!

  27. Hi Sharon,
I've just finished the "be kind to yourself" summer, and now need to spend to next two weeks cleaning up the house and getting things organised to return to school.

I will likely continue those naps, though, and I am going to take time out of the cleaning day to read and write as nourishment for the soul.

Great idea for all of us to do on a regular basis though.

    xx

  28. I'm glad that most of you seem to be taking my advice...and are planning on being kind to yourself this week. :) I've been replying via email to those of you who have enabled it through blogger.

Hema and Anne-Marie...I hope you both have had nice holidays. I've been a bit jealous of both of your photographs. :) (wink)

Hilary MB--Good luck with the move!

Carol (from England) Nothing feels richer than having new shoes...

I think I was able to send everyone else an email. If not I appologize...and promise to better on Friday. :)

  29. I love that you created an International Be Kind to Yourself Week. Talk about a positive movement! Too bad I am a little late to the party. But now that I know, I'll have to come up with something...
