On July 30th of this year, I stopped at our vet's office to drop off Ginger for boarding while we were gone on a trip....
That's when it happened...
I fell in love!
Our dear vet (let's call him John) had a tiny kitten in his office. Someone found her injured and starving and brought her to him so he could put her to sleep. He took her back to his office and gave her a little food. She gobbled it up. At this point she weighed 8 ounces. I'm guessing she purred and that was it...he was in kitty love. He couldn't put her to sleep. She had a leg injury and wasn't very mobile. He and his staff nursed her back to health. They petted her and loved her. "John" wanted to bring her home
We thought about her for a week...We named her Peaches (because she looks like peach ice cream). When I could take it no more, I sent "John" a facebook message. Katherine and I were desperate for our vacation to end so we could see if Peaches was still there.
We were not disappointed. "John" saved her for us. She weighed about 4 pounds when we got her two weeks ago. She now weighs about 5 pounds. Everyone loves her!
She and Ginger are bonding. Macy adores her. (Sorry no photo.) Macy gives her kisses and follows her around.
She's pretty happy, as are the rest of us...
(She probably will always have a limp, but her purrs make up for it.)
(I'm planning on posting once a week from now on. Unless I have a burning issue that I feel compelled to post. This will give me more time to visit everyones' blogs and to continue with the good writing habits I established in August.)
I hope everyone had a wonderful month! (((Hugs)))
hi miss sharon! wow! peaches is sooooo cute. im just real happy that vet saved her and you got her. i cant think whos the most lucky you or peaches. :)
ReplyDelete...big hugs from lenny
A peach of a kitten! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon .. well Peaches brings a smile to my face .. what a lovely story!
ReplyDeleteI've had a funny end of August .. you know these people who ask strange questions .. perhaps I look really old - I don't know .. but what were toilets called in the War (I wasn't around - nor thought of, even)?
So I've been caught up with toilet speak for the last week or so - if someone asks you a question and you feel you should know the answer - that's me .. I go on a sort of hunt. Toilets, lavatories, bogs, you name them .. I've thought about them ...
Strange world we live in - but amazing where we can go to get the answer ... or perhaps get the answer!
Sounds like you've got a good schedule going .. cheers for now - Hilary
Peaches is very cute!
ReplyDeleteAnd true, more kittens.... more more more! :)

Sharon, this is so wonderful! I'm thrilled that you fell in love with Peaches and am so happy she has a wonderful forever home, that the vet and his staff decided they could't euthanize her. I love that second pic of her hanging off the kitty condo!
ReplyDeleteAll the best!
Awwww. And I love Lenny's comment! What cuteness, all around!

ReplyDeleteyay for your new family member!
ReplyDeleteUmm, her eyes look a little evil.
ReplyDeleteJust kidding! She's adorable. Congrats, Sharon.
Hi, Welcome back.
ReplyDeletePeaches is indeed very cute. I am so happy that the vet was able to save her. My wishes are for Peaches to have a happy and healthy life. I see Sarah Mclaughlin's message all the time on the television about saving wounded pets. It breaks my heart. Well now I know that people like you are around to help hurt animals:)
Awwww...too cute!
ReplyDeleteI love how kitties are always willing to fill up a bit of emptiness in ones heart.
Welcome, Peaches.
I think it's great you have opened your heart and your home to a kitty in need! And I'm glad to hear you've been getting some good writing in. Keep it up :)
ReplyDeleteI had to read your post because the title cracked me up! Peaches is a perfect name. Love the hanging-by-a-claw pix. Enjoy your new family member!
ReplyDeleteAW! She is so adorable! I'm so glad you got to adopt her. =)
ReplyDeleteThat beautiful story made my heart smile!!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, Sharon!
ReplyDeleteAAWWW!!! I love your adoption story. Kudos to you for adopting Peaches. You have a heart of gold. I know she'll be happy with you and in return she'll love you back ;)
I also have an adoption story. My best friend called me to tell me she adopted a German shepherd mix from a rescue group. The pup is nine months old and she has heart worms. My friend told the rescue group she still wanted her and would take care of the problem. I was SO happy to hear this pup is going to a loving home. It definitely put a smile on my face.
She's beautiful. :o)
ReplyDeleteHi, Sharon!
ReplyDeleteI do remember when you lost Stripes. Peaches is adorable, Sharon!! I would have fallen in love, too. We actually have an orange-colored cat (Sherman). Thanks for sharing the pictures and Peaches story. :-)
She's so cute! :)
ReplyDeleteaww Sharon she is gorgeous and such a lucky wee kitkat. I love her name :)
ReplyDeleteI love the stretchy photo of Peaches. What a lovely story. I'm glad you found her and she found a home.
ReplyDeleteAw...too cute!! Smile on my face this summer??? I'd probably say with our 7yr-old learned how to swim. He just beamed. :)
ReplyDeleteAwwww. So adorable. Peaches is one lucky kitty. And so are you. :-) Her name is perfect! Thanks for sharing the pics. (((hugs)))
ReplyDeleteSo glad you've got another companion!
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon, Peaches is a beautiful cat. Glad to hear she is fitting right in with the family.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful story.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if you remember me from Writeoncon.... "Hi" *waves*
Congrats! She is so cute. Great that you have something so awesome to remember summer by.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute kitten. I love that story. Reminds me of the various--and sometimes heartbreaking--tales behind my own pets. And it's wonderful how they find us or how we find them.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! Congratulations on the new kitten, and on forming good writing habits!
ReplyDeleteThis post put tears in my eyes. I am allergic to cats and really dont like them but I am so happy that the vet did not put her down. I am also happy that she found a loving home. She is a cutie!!! I will enjoy hearing more about her. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon,
ReplyDeleteWhat a heart warming story. I'm so glad you shared this :)
The very idea of actually having a summer would leave a lasting smile on my face :) Oh well, I can think about an actual summer and that will make me smile.
Have a lovely Labour (whoops 'Labor') Day :)
In kindness, Gary :)
Congrats on your new addition. Such a heartwarming post, although I'm really not a cat person, i'm too doggy....LOl
ReplyDeleteOh, Sharon, that's so precious. Congratulations on your new baby. Wonderful news. :)

Aw, so cute! Peaches is glorious -- I want her. Colour me jealous!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad the summer had left a lasting smile on your face.
That picture of the two cats together is hysterical! I love how she's hanging on by her paws like that. And I LOVE your blog's new look, Sharon!
ReplyDeleteYAY! I'm so glad your family is fuller again. :) Cats rule all over da place!
ReplyDeleteAngela @ The Bookshelf Muse
Had to pop over to see your pages. You must have spent hours on that agent/editor page. It is very well done. *jealous* I want to do something like that.
ReplyDeleteLove the blog. It's grand, my friend. (((hugs)))
What a beautiful kitty, and I love her name. I wasn't blogging in 2010, but I do remember reading a post about how devastated you were when Stripes passed away. So I'm glad you have a precious new kitty. I can't believe someone abandoned her and that someone else turned her in to be put to sleep. I'm glad your vet nursed her back to health, and so cool that she gets along with your other cats. Sweet!
ReplyDeleteAw! She is an adorable kitten. You're right. The internet could do with a lot more kittens!
ReplyDeleteLove it love it love it! What a sweetie pie ~ how could you not help but fall in love!
ReplyDeleteVery fun ~ I look forward to updates on this sweet girl!
xo Catherine
What a story. So happy for you! And the cat. I'm in the process of doing the same thing at our humane society (but with a dog)
ReplyDeleteOkay, maybe this is because I'm more of a dog person, but doesn't she have, like, red vamp eyes?
