The ABC's of A Good Friend... "Y"

Say YES to your brilliant husband (in my case)....
You might find your YES brings out a whole new side of your personality!
Riding on the back of a bike was not something I ever expected to love, but, man, I do!
Say YES to going to conferences and making new friends!
This part of The WAD at Chautauqua in 2008 with Peter Jacobi and Mary Cassanova.

Today is day 25 of Arlee Bird's A-Z Challenge! Since I write for younger children and we're doing the ABC's, I thought I'd do The ABC's of A Good Friend (and throw in a few random pictures, because I have a bit of a camera habit).

Saying YES to friendship will make you a happier, healthier person. Saying YES when a friend invites you to lunch will make your day brighter.  Saying YES on facebook when that kid from 3rd grade that you used to climb on the monkey bars with sends you a friend request, will put a smile on their face and maybe yours.  Saying YES to stretching yourself as a writer by putting yourself out there, going to conferences, getting critique partners will all make you a better writer.  Saying YES to blogging will increase the number of writers you can rely on for honest input.  Saying YES to blogging has made me a happier person.  I'm so grateful to the people I've "blogmet" and become friends with.
I hope each of you get a YES that makes you happy, very soon!
What YES would make you happy today?

  1. Ooh Sharon, that bike is so sexy!! :) By saying yes to A-Z for a second year I have met some wonderful new bloggers and so grateful for the ones I already know.

I've just seen Kate in the wedding car on TV. She looks very beautiful. Are you watching it? I am chopping and changing between that and American Idol haha. I can't decide which is more important. :) Take care XX

  2. If God would say YES and turn off the tap up there that would cheer me up considerably. I need a break from all this rain and greyness.

  3. So many things in life would be more fun if I'd just open myself up to those fun experiences--so this is great advice! Thanks, Sharon, and have a great weekend! You've done an awesome job with this challenge! One more to go!

  4. I rode with my brother once--probably not the same thing though, huh? hahahaha

  5. You did it! You managed to come up with something for 'Y'. :D

Great advice, Sharon. I know I'm glad I said 'yes' to blogging.

  6. Great "Y" post. And yes, Z comes next. I bet you're glad. I'd be saying yes if I was less tired today or didn't have to work. But yes, it's Friday.

  7. Yes to another glass of champers!!!

Yes to friendship and good friends!! Yay! Take care

  8. Awesome! I love the "Yes"! Whoop! I'm thinking of saying yes to a new office in that old room that doesn't get used. Hmmm. =D

    Have a great weekend!

  9. I really do like Yes better than No! If someone said Yes to Precious I would be thrilled!

  10. A yes to the shuttle launch would have been nice. But I'm just happy to say, "Yes, I've posted my Y for the day!"

Even though the photos didn't crop as I'd liked. *sigh*

Y: Paths part in a winter wood

  11. Yes... I love your book. That would be a good yes, or YES, I want to represent you. Either one would be awesome!

  12. Hi Sharon,
Y thank you for this posting. And thank goodness, this 'alphabet challenge', is nearly over.
Sometimes saying 'Yes', when you really mean 'No', is not good :)
Anyway, 'Yes', that ostentatious royal fiasco, is over! :)
Have a lovely and peaceful weekend, Sharon.
In kindness and the letter 'Zed', not 'Zee', your way, Gary :)

  13. hi miss sharon! for sure im saying yes to having really cool blogger friends like you! :)
    yes 2 u b d best friend!
    ...big hugs from lenny

  14. Yes is a good one! I recently went to a conference (for work) about 21st century kids and digital learning which is a little out of my comfort zone, but I'm so glad I said 'yes'! I met lots of cool people and learned fascinating things. And even connected with a published author. You never know where your 'yes' can take you, I guess. :-)

  15. My bike is for could ride your own.... 'course, we are long ways away....

  16. Hi Sharon .. absolutely YES to all the things you've listed .. yes to help people, yes to smile and spend a little more time, yes to being polite, yes to keeping in touch .. and if I had one .. especially one with a sparkly bike - YES to a husband ..

Cheers - loved your take on the A - Z .. thanks Hilary
