The ABC's of A Good Friend... "H"

(Susan Fields has all the qualities you could want in a friend, plus she's an awesome writer!)

Today is day 8 of Arlee Bird's A-Z Challenge! Since I write for younger children and we're doing the ABC's, I thought I'd do The ABC's of A Good Friend (and throw in a few random pictures, because I have a bit of a camera habit).

~H~
Honesty is so important in a friendship.  If you can't trust a friend, you can' really call them friend.  Once trust is lost due to deception, it is really hard to earn it back.  Having happy friends makes you happier. Everyone gets down and having friends to lift you back up is a blessing.  I've been given that gift many times.  Humility is an important quality too.  Have ever been at a party and there's been someone who thought the party was for them...and it wasn't.  They seemed to need to be the center of attention no matter what the occasion.  They seem to think they are the best at everything.  Yeah, not my kind of friend.  I like my friends to be a bit more humble than that.  Susan has all these qualities and more...I realized I haven't seen her since her birthday last August and it made me a bit sad.  For those of you who don't know, we used to live down the street from each other and walk our dogs together.  I hope you'll hop over and say "hi" to Susan.

Do you have a special friend you want to give a shout out to today?  What "H" qualities do they have?

  1. Hi Sharon,
Really pleased to see you have posted up your 'H' in your ongoing theme of the 'ABC's of a good friend'. Like what you're doing with this challenge :)
Really happy that you have such a good friend in Susan. It's nice to have honest and caring friends.
And heck, Arlee Bird, bringing further awareness of the alphabet is really neat n' stuff :)
Just having friends, any friends, is an honour or to spell it incorrectly (honor) :)
Take care and 'I' look forward to 'I' as you work your way through the alphabet. Today's posting was brought to you by the letter 'H'..:)

  3. The GREATEST friend we have is Jesus.
Satan has deceived the whole world Rev 12:9, until he is bruised by a woman who delivers the true word John 1:1 to the whole world Rev 12:5, 13 from the wilderness Rev 12:6 as a witness http://minigoodtale.blogspot.com
Satan's lies are exposed not one child of God will go into a hell fire for any sin it is a lie of the devil. It has never entered the heart or mind of God to do such a thing Jer 7:31, Jer 19:5.
God tells us how to find knowledge and how to understand the Bible Isa 28:9-10 It is precept on precept, line upon line, here a little and there a little.
In the Old Testament there was not truth or grace John 1:17. The Bible is the book of the knowledge of good and evil Gen 3:22, 2 Cor 11:15. The word of God must be rightly divided 2 Tim 2:15 seperating the good from the evil. The bible says the Lord will create a new thing on the earth Jer 31:22 where a woman shall compass a man. This man is Satan Isa 14:16. A woman now bruises Satan at the heel of time Gen 3:15 to restore all things Acts 3:21-23 to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children before the return of Christ. To hear all that God has commanded to be written go to http://thegoodtale.wordpress.com. We can now know our true Father.

  7. I think Susan deserves this thoughtful post. She's honest and humble.

My pick would be Len Lambert at Conversations with Self. She has a son with disabilities, but rarely complains. Len has a positive spirit. She's giving and sweet.

  10. Another wonderful post on friendship, Sharon.

Today I'd like to give a shout out to a terrific blogger friend whose Helped so many of us fine tune our writing. Roland Yeomans. He's having a rough weekend. He has just lost his treasured kitty and best friend. Such a sad time. Our animal friends are family to us and when one leave is it's truly Heartbreaking. So if you can send good thoughts and prayer his way, I'd appreciate it.

    Enjoy your Sunday.

  12. I have moved around a lot in my life and friends come and go. I do have one long distance friend who has been a friend for about 12 years now. I think the 'h' word from your post that would fit her the best is honesty.

    Great post!

  15. Hi Sharon,
As you suggested, I visited Susan's blog, and I became her latest follower. ;)
I do agree that honesty is the best policy, not to sound cliché. Great points you mentioned here in regards to friendship.

  16. I'll send out a hi-de-ho to my buddy Craig.

    The H he exemplifies? Hitchcockian.

Not in a sic-a-flock-of-killer-gulls-on-your-polyester-skirted-self kinda way. But more like, he's always up to something interesting, has an encyclopedic knowledge of film, and he's talented but doesn't take himself too seriously.

    I like that.

Also, he always appears in black and white. How does he do that? All part of the mystery, I guess.

    Best,
    Joe

  22. Susan is a catch for a friend...and I'll go with the h word "holler"....sometimes I need a good friend to holler at me and get me going in the right direction again. I have a couple who can say, "Stop it!" and I'll snap right out of my pity party. That is a gift.

  23. Great post on Susan! So fun that you two used to live down the street from one another!

I'll give a shout out to my buddy Debra. She's honest and humorous, and she has a giant heart.
