A Rough Journey Can Lead to Something Wonderful

 I loaded up Ginger...
I loaded up Macy and Katherine and we hit the road.  We knew the 10 11 hour drive would be grueling...and it didn't disappoint.

Macy made half a dozen potty breaks...
We came to a bridge out sign and had to make a long twisty detour.

Ginger gave us a smelly surprise in her carrier...YIKES! She's never done that before!!!

But the final destination was worth the rough ride...
This is my favorite spot in the United States!  The deck on the back of our lake shack...But our journey was not quite finished....

Nature had left me a little surprise in the the cabin....EEK! A MOUSE!  Since this was a girls only road trip, guess who had to deal with it? ME!
(I'm still quivering a bit.)
This is the other reason we come to Bull Shoals Lake....
It is breathtakingly beautiful!  The water is crystal clear, even...
when the lake is a "little" high.  Yep, that's a street light!
Macy doesn't care that she's swimming in the street...
She knows we'll get the boat out and head to deeper waters soon....

What's the moral of the story you ask?  You tell me...
(I'm reading on the deck.)

Have a safe and happy weekend.  (My Internet capabilities are kind of patchy here, but I'll give it my best shot to read your blogs. )

  2. Was Ginger just tired, when that picture was taken? Maybe the heat was getting to her? Macy definitely looks ready to go on a road trip.

Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures. It looks like you will have a wonderful weekend. The flowers are so pretty. Oh, I just noticed the butterfly!

  7. 11 hours IS grueling, but obviously worth it. I hope Ginger is okay after that...Neither of my boys is good in the carrier and taxi, can't imagine them making an 11-hour trip. LOL.

But your cottage and the lake look like a slice of heaven. Wonderful.

  28. Hi Sharon .. 11 hours is a long way - we used to 8 hour trips as kids quite often .. and occasionally with the animals - not so happy!

Glad yours survived their travels and can relax for a while ..

Sounds and looks a wonderful spot - bliss ... my connection would be down more than thinking about being on!!

Enjoy your bit of heaven - cheers Hilary

  29. Great photos, Sharon! That was a challenging trip for you all, but it looks like it was worth the trip (once the mouse was taken care of)! Guess the moral is that life is challenging but can be so rewarding when you put forth the effort and persevere!

  30. Have a great time at your getaway! My brother in law took the fam to their cottage and found a porucpine in the outhouse toilet (yeah, its really rural). He took a pic and sent it to us. Too funny.
