I also wanted fresh baked bread from Great Harvest Bread, but it's two hours away. Have you had their bread? It's all natural, no preservatives, and they grind the grain themselves. My dear hubby drove twenty miles out of his way to make sure I got plenty of their awesome bread for my birthday (and beyond).
Normally, I'm not very good at my birthday, but this year I embraced it. I celebrated! Thanks to a lot of people. I was overwhelmed by the emails and facebook birthday wishes I got on Monday. I think I got close to 100! It was something very special to me. Thank you all soooo much! It made me feel like you wrapped a great big snuggly blanket around me right after you had taken it out of the dryer. (((Hugs for everyone!)))
One of my cps, Lenny Lee was quite sneaky...He read a comment I left on Susan Fields' blog about the book HOOKED by Les Edgerton. He even managed to get a personal signature to me in the front of the book!
Isn't this the coolest cake, I mean card you've ever seen!
This week, Lenny interviewed me about what makes a good cp. If you have any additions to my responses to Lenny's questions we'd both appreciate your input. Check out the cool Snoopy cupcake music box that Lenny sent me too...
The YUMMY carrot cake came from Village Inn. We had never eaten at one before we moved to Iowa. Do you have them in your state?
Now on to the announcement.............................................................
My daughter, Katherine, found out today that two of her Haikus are going to be published in Berry Blue Haiku Magazine! This was the first time she EVER submitted anything. We are so excited! It should come out in the December issue. (Thanks to everyone who congratulated her on my FB page today. I forwarded all your comments to her email account.)
Which do you like best cake or frosting? Have a great rest of the week!
Firstly, Happy Birthday Sharon!
ReplyDeleteAnd congratulations to your daughter, Katherine. OMG! You must be mighty proud of her. And, it was the first time she submitted!
Tell her she gives hope to the masses - namely me!
Way to go :) xx
YAY on all accounts!! Lenny - what a sweetie! Many congrats to Katherine. I tried to send you a message last night but it came back undeliverable. (*shrug*)
ReplyDeleteLove the cake! Happy B-day!
Happy Birthday!!!! Your cake looked yummy.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your daughter. What an achievement!
Happy Birthday girlfriend! How does it feel turning 30? You look fabulous! I love chocolate cake with peanut butter icing and I don't like one more than the other. It's a perfect combination.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY! And congrats to your daughter! I have to say, I'm a bit spoiled with desserts, here in France. The "gateaux" are very different than those in the US. There is no Betty Crocker, no icing at the supermarket!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I LOVE carrot cake--so yummy and GOOD for you (or, at least, as healthy as cake can be with cream cheese frosting). I have the best recipe for it, too, if you're interested.
ReplyDeleteCheers to a great birthday!
Sounds like a great bday! Lenny and his fam are the best. They are sneaky!!!
ReplyDeleteWhich do I like BEST?!? Frosting, of course!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY an' Wow! You got some great cards an' gifts. Looks like you're gonna' be busy with birthday funsies. An' what a nice hubby to go get you the breads you like.
Congrats to Katherine. I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you had such a joyous birthday! And I can't believe you haven't had birthday cake since you were 18? What is up with that!?
ReplyDeleteCongrats again to Katherine!! What an accomplishment!
Happy Birthday! I'm so glad you really celebrated!
ReplyDeleteThe cake looks fantastic. Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting is my personal favorite, followed by pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting. Not sure whether I like the cake or the frosting better, as either is diminished without the other.

ReplyDeleteI've always loved cake and have often quoted Bill Cosby when I have it for breakfast. But I like both parts, cake and frosting.
ReplyDeleteAnd a big congrats to your daughter :)
Happy Birthday! So glad to know you had a great day with your family. The first thing I got published was a haiku too. I think it's great your daughter's getting into writing at a young age!

ReplyDeleteSharon, I'm so glad you had such a great birthday. Cakes are great! I'm not supposed to eat much sugar, but if I could, I'd pig out on a small piece of cake with tons of frosting! We used to eat at Village Inn when we lived in Nebraska, and they do have great desserts!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Katherine!
Wow… I thing I need one with the other, I couldn’t imagine a world where I had to choose.
ReplyDeleteThx, for all you do.

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I'm so glad it was such a warm fuzzy one. :)
Dear Sharon,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that I've been unable to get to your site, sooner. I've been a bit poorly, but what the heck, visiting your blog always makes me feel better. Almost well enough to contemplate some cake:-)
Anyway, happy belated birthday, and wow, well done to your daughter Katherine. I've no doubt you are all thrilled. Peaceful wishes, Gary.
The harvest breads and carrot cake have me drooling. Nothing like a well balanced diet. Happy birthday.
ReplyDeleteThat Lenny is amazing. :o) So glad you had a wonderful birthday!!! You deserve the best and I'm glad you embraced the day. Loved seeing your smiling face here as well. :o)
ReplyDeleteAgain, congrats to Katherine!
CRUD! I missed your birthday which means I do not deserve any of your yummy cake or delicious breads, unless of course you feel sorry for me. Uh, you do, right?
ReplyDeleteAnd leave it up to Lenny to do something so SWEET. What a guy. Hugs Sharon. (You are feeling sorry enough to offer me something good to eat, right?) :) HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY TO A PRECIOUS GAL THAT ALWAYS GIVES.
Uh, I meant who always gives. Cuz I know you're not a that. YANNO?
