NEXT TOP TITLE BLOGFEST...

It's Saturday, normally  I don't post on the weekend, but here I am...It's an all day blogfest!

Slushpile Slut is hosting The Next Top Title Blogfest. Everyone is supposed to post 3-5 possible titles for a WIP (or two) without any background information. (She has a list of all the participants on her blog...)  Then we ask (beg) our dear blog friends for advice on what title they think it the best.

So here I go:

Middle Grade Historical Fiction Novel
1. A TEMPORARY HOME
2. EVERYONE DID THEIR PART
3. NOT A HOLIDAY

Picture Book
1. A CAKE I WILL BAKE
2. CAKE FOR TWO
3. THE CAKE CHALLENGE

Thanks for stopping by and giving your opinions.

Have a lovely weekend!

P.S.  I'm only 820 people away from having a 1,000 followers! Can you believe it? I'm totally stoked and have been thinking of what to do to celebrate when I'm 800 followers away from 1,000.  Well, we've come up with a plan...My daughter (now a high school freshman) and I decided to have a Really Random Prize Give-A-Way...one of EPIC proportion! It's going to be sooooo (I could add more o's) much fun for you, me and a committee of judges....

  1. All three titles for WIP1 are very different, give a different "first thought" to me. I'd have to say (given from your Genre description) I like Not A Holiday.

For WIP2: I like The Cake Challenge

  2. I pick:

A Temporary Home & The Cake Challenge.

  6. I'm having a hard time thinking of wip 1 as anything but "Everyone Did Their Part", but I do like "Not a Holiday."

For wip 2, I like "A Cake I Will Bake."

  7. I like Not A Holiday. It sounds somber, sad, you know? I wonder if it's like an inspirational for the reader, like a lesson the MC learned and how the reader can relate and grow from it.

I like the Cake Challenge. It sounds like a hands on fun thing. Does it include a recipe at the back? ;)

  8. Boy, this is tough without knowing the genre. Assuming these are picture books, I'd definitely say "Not a Holiday".

Nothing on the cake side grabbed me, but again, depending on the story line, maybe one of these would fit well.

  11. I like Not A Holiday (but it drives me crazy that I don't know what these books are about when I'm pointing out titles).

I also like A Cake I Will Bake.

  12. I want the historical fiction title to be edgier.
    A Lost Home

  13. Great titles!! YAY you are almost to 200! That is awesome!

  14. For a picture book: A CAKE I WILL BAKE.

The other one is harder. Might I make a suggestion : HOME IS NOT A PLACE.

Not knowing the details of the first book makes choosing hard. A TEMPORARY HOME would be my choice. Roland

  15. I LOVE "A Cake I Will Bake." How adorable! But I don't think I'd use that unless it's a rhyming book. But if it is, def would pick that one. :)

  16. For the first, I like Temporary Home and Not a Holiday. (I think I like the latter because I'm in school to be a teacher, and I can see myself saying this. lol)
And both A Cake I Will Bake and Cake Challenge are awesome.

  18. Oooh I like "Not a holiday" for the first - because it opens up so much possibilities - not a holiday - why and what's going on?

"A Cake I will Bake" for the second because it's so cute and so sweet and you can't go wrong with cake and bake!

  24. I'm voting for NOT A HOLIDAY and CAKE FOR TWO. Of course, not knowing anything about the stories, take my vote with a grain of salt. Or if you're baking cakes, take it with yellow cake mix, two eggs, a bit of cooking oil (I'm lame and I use the box kind)... ;)

Have a great and productive week!

  26. Not A Holiday and A Cake I Will Bake ... easy!

Firstly, CONGRATS, on your email from B&W publishers! You are one step closer to being published ... I am excited for you Sharon. Let me know how it goes and if indeed you are in the GB for book signings etc I'll come for your autograph lol

And thanks for the award, especially your introduction. Do you mind if I quote you as a soundbite. I am redeveloping my official website and have been wondering how to describe my blog. I always laugh when you describe it as adult fiction (which it is, sometimes,in places).

    Good luck x

  27. Sharon, looks like you're really good with coming up with interesting/thought-provoking titles! I have to confess I'm partial to "A temporary home" -- it has so much sadness and intrigue packed into it.

As for the PB, since I've had the privilege of having read it, I think "A cake for two" works really well for it!
