Thanks to everyone who entered my First Four Sentences Contest. I hope you had fun and got some good input on your first four sentences...The first winner out of the entries is MUSHERS DON'T SAY MUSH. (My lovely daughter drew entry number 14 out of a bowl.) The second winner is Susan Fields. (I wrote everyones name down after each comment, assigned them a number and then used random.org to find the winner. There were 90 comments, excluding mine!) I'll contact both of you via email for your addresses.
Do you have a writing goal for this week? Do you have a query goal?
Congrats to the big winner! And 90 comments--woo-hoo!
ReplyDeleteMy writing goal this week is to get through 5 chapters of this revision layer.
Thanks so much for doing this, Sharon. I didn't make it over to comment much, but I'll try to work my way through them soon. :-)
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the big winners!
90 Comments, that's great!!
ReplyDeleteMy writing goal right now is to set things aside and wait for my readers to get back to me. I'm really trying to get some things done in the house that have been bugging me, but the words are calling me back, big time!
Jill--Good luck with your revisions. I'm finishing revisions on a beginning chapter book and then sending it out...
ReplyDeleteShannon--Thanks for joining in. :) I wish I had been bright enough to enter something I wrote in it....
Judith--Do you have beta readers? I need to hang some curtains myself, but would rather be writing too. :)
This was super fun to do. Thanks so much, Sharon. You're my hero!
ReplyDeleteBuffy--You are a riot! Thanks for participating.
ReplyDeleteYay!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the winners!! Wonderful competition! Thank you Sharon for having it.
My writing goal of the week? To get to at least 140 words!
:-)
Take care

Yay! I won a contest - how fun! Thanks for a fantastic contest, Sharon - it was fun to do and I learned a lot by reading all the comments (especially on my own entries.) :)
ReplyDeleteMy writing goal for this week? To get through revisions on another two chapters (it would be three, but the kids are off school 1-1/2 days and Madeline makes her First Communion on Thursday, Easter on Sunday, etc.)
To write!! I am feeling so behind and wasted last weekend so I am praying I can really get some in this weekend.
ReplyDeleteKitty--I'm sure your new kitty, Charlie, will inspire more than 140 words...Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSusan--Congratulations! Best wishes on getting your revisions done with the schedule changes for the week.
Terri--Don't be so hrd on yourself. If you couldn't work over the weekend, it probably means you needed the break. Have a good week!
Congratulations Susan. Great Job. The comments made by everyone and the great writing samples were very helpful.
ReplyDeleteI thought this was a wonderful opportunity. I think you can get a better sense of a work with four sentences as opposed to just one or the first 25 words, etc. I learned a lot just by going through the other entries and seeing what worked. I am also grateful for all the feedback on my own post as it will motivate me to keep revising and making my work stronger.
ReplyDeleteThanks to Sharon and to those who commented!
Congrats, contest winners! I totally meant to enter. Where does the time go???
ReplyDeleteSean--Thanks for participating.
ReplyDeleteBlue--Thanks for all the comments and for submitting.
Jennie--I wondered what happened with your entry...I think I'll do something like this again. Hopefully, you'll get in on the next one.
Loved the comments. Very helpful...
ReplyDeleteJ.J.--Thanks for participating. :)
