Steve's lovely wife, Heather, introduced us. She thought we looked like we could be brother and sister. Oddly enough, we both moved to America when we were eight. We both were born in London, England. No, our parents weren't marrried to each other and try as we have, we can't find any common ancestors.
Steve has a long list of publications. You can see them on his (current) website. He has two new books scheduled to come out this spring.
OCEAN SOUP will be released in February.
WIFF AND DIRTY GEORGE will be released in March.
Steve will be at the Wisconsin State Reading Conference, February 2-6, if you would like to meet him. I hope you will pop over and view his website. Keep an eye out here for more book releases...
If you have the opportunity to go to the Highlights Foundations Summer Workshop at Chautauqua, it's a great opportunity to learn about writing, illustrating, and the publishing process. You also have the opportunity to network with some amazing people.
If you have any questions about Steve or the Highlights Foundation, drop me a note...
Those books look so great, I'll look for them when they come out. And I love your blog, Sharon! Nice to "meet" you. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon. Nice to be part of your writer's community. I can't wait to take these new books "on the road," visiting schools and conferences around the country. I've written over 25 books of nonfiction and never thought I would write a novel, just didn't think it was "in me." It feels so good to have accomplished a long work of fiction.
ReplyDeleteNice new header! It's awesome that you can write about writer friends, who then, in turn, comment on the blog post!
ReplyDeleteOn a complete side note, i found someone today who has the exact same blog title as you and i got confused and thought maybe you shared this blog with someone and i didn't know it. But no, just the same title. What are the chances?
Jackee--Thanks for stopping by! I think you'll love Steve's book, with your background. One of my favorites is SAVING MANATEES. He's going to be researching sea turtles some time this year, so I expect there will a be a book on that in the not so distant future.
ReplyDeleteSteve--Thanks for stopping by and commenting. :) Both of your new books sound great. I really enjoyed the F & G copy of ARMADILLO TRAIL that you sent me. I'm really jealous of your upcoming research trip. Have fun and hug a sea turtle for me.
Falen--Steve is a great guy. I've, on occasion, asked him to read some of my work, he's brutally honest...So when he read EVERYONE DID THEIR PART and he liked it, I was beside myself.
I think I know the blog you are talking about; Random Thoughts daily...(daily is in smaller letters). I stop in there every once and a while. :) Have a good weekend!
Hi Sharon,
ReplyDeleteYou may want to stop my blog today! There is something shiny for you!
xoxo -- Hilary
Oh, Hilary...You are so sweet! I've been researching agents(including yours)...Marietta sounds wonderful. She's done some great interviews.
ReplyDeleteExcellent! I'm always looking for new books, and I love seeing pictures. :)
ReplyDeleteElana--Thanks for popping in. Steve has some great books!
ReplyDeleteAren't coincidences like that amazing? Both of you moved to America when you were eight--and you both were born in London! Eerie!
ReplyDeleteLove his book covers...
Jill--It was really funny. Oddly enough, his wife's name is the same is the same as my sister's. We had to end up as friends...
ReplyDeleteI'll keep an eye out for these books--they look super-cute!
ReplyDeleteLisa & Laura--From the jacket cover, they do look pretty good. Steve has a good track record of writing great books...He goes on great research trips. :) He makes me want to write NF.
ReplyDeleteWhen Husband and I were first married, mom-in-law would drag us to Chautauqua (she live in Buffalo)...now I'd love to go!
ReplyDeleteYou DO share some of the same traits! Nice teeth, both of you!
ReplyDeleteFun to have famous friends. Good blog prompt!
Anita--I couldn't have imagined how wonderful the Highlights Chautauqua experience would be. I hope you get to go sometime. They have scholarships. :)
ReplyDeleteJennie--LOL, same teeth! You know I get so excited when something good happens for my writing friends.
The Highlights Chautauqua Workshop seems amazing in so many ways! I would love to go....one day...
ReplyDeleteKelly--They have scholarships...It is well worth the money if you have to pay. I learned so much there. One great thing I learned was how to network with authors, editors, and publishers. I'm trying to figure out what my "workshop" for this year will be. I may post on that topic on Monday...
ReplyDeleteBlimey, we DO have good teeth! And I thought the English were supposed to have bad teeth.
ReplyDeleteJennie & Steve--My very observant daughter thinks it's our cheekbones and noses are what look alike.
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Looking forward to reading yours. Happy writing!
ReplyDeleteHey Sharon, You do look like brother and sister! And as English as you sound, I've never heard you say "blimey." You should add it to your vocabulary - I like it!
ReplyDeleteIntersting books! Great info, thanks. I've got something for you over at my blog. When you get a chance, check it out. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnita S.--Thanks for stopping by. I enjoyed your blog too. :)
ReplyDeleteSusan--I didn't see the resembelance when we were at Chautauqua, but in the photo I see a bit. It's an honor to have Steve as a friend. I'd like to have a litle of his success rub off on me.
Karen--Glad you stopped in. I'll pop over ans see what you are up to this afternoon. I've been doing that MotherReader challenge, so I've been trying to visit new blogs...It's been fun, but one link leads to another and before you know it, it's midnight!
I love the story of how you met. What a fun friend to have!
ReplyDeleteSuzette--We had so many things in comonn. He's a great source of inspiration. Thanks for dropping in. :)
