Dream Destinations...

What is your dream destination?

About a year ago, I went to Costa Rica. I’ve traveled a lot in the United States and in the United Kingdom, but Costa Rica was exceptional. We traveled on a private bus, in the middle of the night, (thankfully) from San Jose to the resort. We traveled on roads not much wider than the bus around the mountains with steep drop offs in the middle of the night. We really didn’t know how primitive the infrastructure was until we drove back in the daylight. We were told that due to a former, corrupt government the money that had been set aside for road improvement was either wasted or embezzled from the fund.

The whole trip was a true adventure: from the extreme bus ride to the exotic resort, to the canopy of the rain forest and the guided tour of the forest floor, to the crocodile adventure and a shopping trip in a local village…It was a dream destination. If you get the chance to visit Costa Rica, GO!

So how can that adventure be topped? I’m not sure. I still have international dreams of going to Egypt, Rome, and Israel. My dream destination in the U.S. is to go back to the Grand Canyon, hike down into the canyon, to go to Havasu Falls, and to take another helicopter ride.

If money was no object where would you go? What would you do?

  1. Those roads sound like some in the small Caribbean islands I've visited!
I would love to go to Australia one day when my kids are older and to Spain with my hubby to visit one of my best friends!
Also, I'd love to go back to Atlantis in the Bahamas with the kids. It's a perfect place for kids and adults!

  3. EVERYWHERE!!! We're going to Ecuador in March, but Italy is next on the agenda. After that, I think Turkey. I'd love to go back to Morocco and Ireland, but Scotland is after Turkey. The Boy wants to go to Hawaii; DH is jonesing for Nepal and New Zealand is appealing to all of us.

If only money was no object.

But money really isn't an issue, for me it's more about my responsibilities here, with my job and my dogs

  6. Kelly--You sound like me...I always want to go somewhere. :)

Amy--One day we'll be like the people in Star Trek and be able to beam ourselves anywhere we'd like. Won't that be great!

Falen--Japan would be cool, especially having a friend who lives there. When I go to England my family over there makes sure I see new places on every visit.

Kelly H-Y--It was an exceptional experience! I'd like to go again and go to an area with volcano excursions.

  7. Oh, what a wonderful luxury thought!
Well, I would go to the west coast in the US right now.
Other than that, I've lately really been wanting to go to Peru and see the Inca path, Machu Pichu and so on. And do much more, but that'll do for a start!

  9. Hermione--I second all of your trips...I wonder if people who win the lottery take lots of trips...I would if I came into a lot of money. :)

Mary Jo--Our trip to Costa Rica was a buisness trip for my husband. He worked and my daughter and I played. It was wonderful...

  10. My husband studied abroad in Costa Rica and loved it. This is such a tough question for me because there are so many places I want to go! I think maybe this time I'll choose Greece. Come to think of it, I wish I was there right now!

  11. Lisa & Laura--We loved Costa Rica and would go back in a heart beat. I'd like to go to Greece too....I should just face it, I'd like to go everywhere. My Grandad was a manager at British Airways, before he retired. He was pretty far up the corporate chain. He has free first class travel on BA for life. He and my Nanny have been all over the world. I guess that's where I get my desire to go go go...

  12. If I could go anywhere, it would probably be Greece, Switzerland, or Australia. I'd love to go back to England, too. When I was younger, I was convinced there was some mix-up and I was supposed to be born there because I've always loved all things English.

  15. Stephanie--I aways want to go to places I've already been...Of course, then we go somewhere new and then I want to go there again. :) (The Grand Canyon is a great example of this. I'd go back in a heartbeat.)

Thanks for stopping by. :) Have a lovely weekend!

  17. SP-I don't know much about Bermuda...But tropical sounds good right about now. I go to England every couple years. I was born there and most of my family is there. I get homesick, which is funny since I spent most of my life in the US...
