The ABC's of A Good Friend... "X"

Today is day 24 of Arlee Bird's A-Z Challenge! Since I write for younger children and we're doing the ABC's, I thought I'd do The ABC's of A Good Friend (and throw in a few random pictures, because I have a bit of a camera habit).
~X~
I hope you noticed that all of my friendship posts this month have been qualities you might want to find in a friend or a friend might want to find in you.  Today will be a little bit different...(I'd insert a dark end of the world kind of music clip...if I had one for you).

You do not want to have a friend that has Xenophobia.  They would not be good travel companions.  They wouldn't want to experience the local culture.  They would not want to go on adventures with you.  They might not want to leave the hotel room, if you could get them to leave their house.  They might not want to fly, or take train or a bus.  They might be scared to try strange new foods...

I hope you don't have Xenophobia!  I can't imagine how hard it would be to cope with everyday life.  If you do have it,  (remember I'm not a doctor) you probably should talk to your doctor about it and see how they can help you.  The world is a wonderful place, full of wonderful people who are willing to share themselves and their lives with you.  Having a good friend may be the start to a better life.  (((Hugs to everyone!)))  Here is a link to more information on Xenophobia.

If you are doing the A-Z Challenge, what X word did you do?  If you are not doing the A-Z Challenge, do you have another X word that either describes a quality you want in a friend or don't want in a friend?

  2. Hahaha. This seems to be a condition among some politians (and not just in this country). Pretty creative ABC-thinking, Sharon!

  3. I did the uses of X all by itself rather than as a word starter...and then I threw in a few x words for good luck.
    Very good x posting.

  4. X must be the toughest post no matter your subject - but you sailed through with flying colors! I think I would like my friends to at least occasionally enjoy something that might be considered...

    X-rated!

  9. Wow, I'm so impressed you came up with a good 'x' word.

I would have cheated and said a good friend is a good eXample. :)

  10. OMG! I would be the most miserable person and I wouldn't want to be with myself if I had xenophobia. I absolutely LOVE to travel and discover new cultures. In fact, my hubby and I are getting ready for our trip to Istanbul ;) I have lovely friends there. Perhaps this is the reason I move a lot, like a migrating geese ;)

  13. Aha - you came up with an "X" word! I was waiting to see what you were going to do with "X". :) I agree - a xenophobiac would not make a good travel companion.

  20. Hi Sharon,
Actually, it's 'Xenaphobia', which is, of course, fear of a warrior princess from a foreign land :)
'X' was yet another very easy letter to use. I had so much fun with letter 'X'.
Yet, now I wonder 'Y' I wrote my spoof posting on this 'challenge', that thankfully, is almost over!
'Xactly'! And yes, time for me to 'X-it'.....

  22. Sharon, an excellent post. Xenophobia is a lurking danger here in South Africa. We have so many refugees coming from the northern countries like Zimbabwe and Malawi to find work, and there is such tension. It's like apartheid has returned to lay its insidious evil on our beloved land again. There are a lot of community education programmes going on to help eradicate this danger. As you say...no-one wants a friend who has xenophobia.

X is for Xhosa, which is Nelson Mandela's tribe. Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was born in Transkei, South Africa on July 18, 1918. His father was Chief Henry Mandela of the Tembu Xhosa Tribe, which makes Tata Mandela royalty.

  23. This is a fantastic post. Excellent word for X. It's funny, when I was thinking of X's for a good friend (because I was wondering where you would go with it earlier) I thought of 'xenophile'. We're on the same wavelength :-)
