The ABC's of A Good Friend... "L"

(Macy is a loving loyal friend!)

Today is day 12 of Arlee Bird's A-Z Challenge! Since I write for younger children and we're doing the ABC's, I thought I'd do The ABC's of A Good Friend (and throw in a few random pictures, because I have a bit of a camera habit).
~L~
True friends are loyal.  They stand with you through thick and thin.  They pick you up when you are down.  They encourage you when you think your manuscript stinks.  They give you a little shove when they see you faltering.  Loyal friends last a lifetime.

You are supposed to love your family.  You are related to them, so it's a given that you love them. (It doesn't always work out that way, but most of the time it does.)

You get to decide about the other people in your lives....your friends.  There are some people you just fall in love with the moment you meet them.  You know the friends I'm talking about.  The ones you click with.  The ones you have an instant connection with.  You can't put your finger on it, but you love them from the moment you meet them.  Then there are friends that you grow to love...Either way, love is a wonderful benefit of a great friendship.

What other "L" words describe your good friends?

  2. Liked? (Not all friends are so close as to be LOVED - yet.) I have a few who are Lesbian. ;) There's another "L" for you. Several are large - either in girth or in spirit or both. Most, thank God, are living (though I've lost too many, over the years, and that's one of the downsides to a long life). One thing that doesn't generally describe my friends is "liar." My kids know, and certainly my friends know, that lying is the one thing that drives me nuts. On the other hand, a great many of them DO write fiction...

    I guess it's a benign form of lying. ;)

  4. I don't get that kindred spirit feeling with other people very much, but when I do, there's no mistaking it.

  7. I agree with Michael -- having friends who are life-long learners is also important, but loyalty is the best in a friend, given all the ups and downs in life.

  10. I love your A-Z posts… the way you list things, or they way you feel about them, match my opinion to a T.

    Thx for the post.

  13. I'm amazed in blogosphere how I can click with certain bloggers straight away, without even meeting them in person, and feel that we are bestie buddies. But others I can't. It's just like in real life.

  14. Loyal is a brilliant L word for friends. I can't think of any others that haven't already been said in the comments.

  15. Hi Sharon,
How the 'L' are you? :) I see the great 'alphabet challenge' had now reached the letter L. I shall be doing a posting on my alternative to all of this, when you reach the letter 'X'. I am going to have so much fun with that! :)
Macy, like all our precious creatures are loyal, loving friends whose love and loyalty is unconditional.
What the 'L' describes a good friend? Likeable.

  16. I like your choices of posting on Friendship. Good friends are so difficult to find and this makes it all the more important to nurture quality friendships so they can last.

An "L" word that describes my good friends (I really use that plural term loosely because when it really comes down to it, I probably only have maybe one or two good friends) would probably be "Laughable" because they always find ways to tell me a joke that makes me laugh, even at times when I'm not in a laughing mood, so that is an uplifting trait of a good friend....to me, anyways.

  19. I enjoy reading your posts. I am still an elementary teacher, although not in the classroom. Reading Specialist. I love elementary ed. SO I write, teach, tutor and garden in my spare time. As far as friends go, I agree with your choices. We probably need to teach the 3 L's in school. Did I see that you are in Iowa? I used to live in Des Moines.
