The ABC's of A Good Friend... "K"

(My last birthday was joyful, thanks to the kindness of my bloggy friends.)

It's day 11 of Arlee Bird's A-Z Challenge! Since I write for younger children and we're doing the ABC's, I thought I'd do The ABC's of A Good Friend (and throw in a few random pictures, because I have a bit of a camera habit).
~K~

Kindness is something that comes naturally to some people.  I adore people who care deeply for others.  People who are kind are a gift...they do things for others for no other reason than to help someone out.  It really bothers me when people appear to be kind, but they are doing things for ulterior motives....once I catch you doing that, it's hard for me to trust you....

I don't usually enjoy my birthday.  I've never seen it as a reason to celebrate...I'm just getting older and getting more wrinkles.  We usually go out for dinner, but that's it.  Anyway, I had the pleasure helping organize a surprise birthday wish for a fellow blogger last year.  Then he asked one of my writing buddies when my birthday was and she told him.  Well, he was so excited about my birthday, that I had to be excited too.  His kindness and enthusiasm made me enjoy my birthday.  Most of you know him already and you know how kind he is.  Lenny Lee is one of the kindest and wisest bloggers out there and he's 11 years old.  Thank you Lenny for being so kind to me...and being my cp! Thanks to Lenny's kindness and the kindness of all my bloggy and facebook friends I will celebrate my birthday from now on.  (((HUGS))) to everyone!

Has anyone in the blogging world surprised you with their kindnessCan you think of any other "K" words that describe a good friend?

  1. Very cool!

A get a few bloggers who email me off the blog to tell me how much something I wrote to them meant. That means sooooo much to me. It makes me feel on top of the world.

  2. Has anyone surprised me? I've been blown away by the generosity and kindness of folks in the blogosphere. Nearly everyday, someone says something kind and encouraging, and it always, always brightens my day. I didn't really expect that, but I'm extremely thankful for it.

  5. Kindness is such an important word. I also hate people who pretend to be kind just so that they can get something they want.

  8. The first thing that jumped into my mind in answer to your last question was: "Kindred spirit." That's what a true friend means to me.

This is a beautiful series you're doing, Sharon! I need to go to all your back posts I have missed in this series so far! As for whether I have found any kindness in the blogging world, it is only kindness I have been lucky enough to come across so far. I have also made some awesome friends, including you :), whom I have never even met in person!

  9. Unconditional kindness is all too absent in today's day and age, but like the other commenters, the writing blogosphere is bursting with kindness and encouragement. Truly humbling.

  11. I think kindness is the outward manifestation of love, and that pretty well trumps everything.

    You couldn't have found a better K.

    Nicely done.

  13. Hmmm...most of the people I've met online are generous in terms of sharing what they know. Can't think of any other K words though, except for knowledgeable.

  17. Happy Birthday, Sharon! Mine is coming up at the end of the challenge. EEKKK! I'm like you, too old for birthdays, but I always loved them up until I hit 30. So I remember those days. In my 20's I always buy myself a white rose and pin it to my jacket. It made me feel special and it made others smile.

Now for the K words. Keen, Kindred, Kooky, Knowing ...

  18. Hi Sharon,
What a kind posting and a glowing statement about our kind little buddy, Lenny :)
I'm surprised by the kindness of anyone who would even bother to visit or comment on my shy, modest and unassuming blog.
Aha, a 'K' word that describes a friend. Ummm..'kinky'? Whoops..just a moment....how about 'keen' as in eager to help and be of support to you?
Right Sharon, what the 'L' is next? :)

  22. Happy birthday, Sharon! Sure, it's getting older - but it beats all heck out of the alternative. :) Thanks for introducing me to your friend, Lenny - impressive young blogger, and gracious, too.
