The ABC's of A Good Friend... "I"

(Do you ever let your imagination go wild? )

Today is day 9 of Arlee Bird's A-Z Challenge! Since I write for younger children and we're doing the ABC's, I thought I'd do The ABC's of A Good Friend (and throw in a few random pictures, because I have a bit of a camera habit).
~I~
Who would have thought a friend with an imagination would be a requirement???  But it is.  I like to be around creative people.  What about you?  I think friends that are imaginative give you the freedom to be silly together, and that's a must in my book.  On a more serious note, having integrity is a deal breaker for me.  Have you ever seen someone keep extra change at a restaurant or a shop?  It turns my stomach...no integrity!  Or heard someone lauhing as they left a shop about not paying for something?  Deal Breaker!  I worked in fast food in college.  People would eat almost a whole sandwich and then complain and want their money back.  Yeah, not my type of person.

I really struggled with coming up with more "I" words.  Can you help me come up with some more?

  1. I agree with you on both integrity and imagination. Creative, imaginative people are more likely to give me teh space to be my (crazy)self. Integrity is just non-negotiable.

    And I = inspiration, I= ink for pens I=inamorato I = imprint I = impromtu...ok, ok, I'll stop now! :)

  3. Surrounding ourselves with like-minded peeps is so important. And being able to be silly is a must if one wants to write books for children. We have to loosen up and see the world through their eyes.

  4. Yep, integrity is essential. Because even if a person isn't directing the bad behavior at you--how can you trust they won't at some point? It's hard to relax around a person with loose ethics, in my opinion.

  5. Integrity is huge! A friend of mine last week went back to a store with receipt in hand wanting to know if the computer had messed up and not charged her enough! The cashier was stunned :)

  6. You know me, Sharon, being silly is my top priority. And that's important when you write for the age group we do. Silly is so very good with them. :-) And it relaxes me, makes me able to write my little picture books.

What a great post, pal. :-)

  7. You're doing a great job with your ABC's. I would say, too, that friends are intuitive. They know when something's wrong with you. They can just sense it when things aren't right. So that's my contribution for today. Have a great week. LOL, B

  8. I agree with you about integrity. Having a friend that's imaginative doesn't hurt either.

  9. "I" is a tough one! I think you've got two great ones, though! I know what you mean about integrity. When I hear someone be nice to someone's face and then talk about them behind their back, it makes me wonder what they're saying about me behind my back.

  13. I second Buffy's vote for intuitive. I think intuition is garden path observation, parsed and packaged and shipped up to the conscious mind.

Back in the day, it kept us from becoming lunch.

In some social and work situations, it performs the same function today.

Good to have a friend who can help out on that front.

  14. "IF" seems to be a popular one for today. Illumination is an "I" word I like. Oh and there is another one, I! LOL

  15. Integrity is definitely important. I was going to say intuitive, but a few people have already shared that one.

    Have a wonderful day!

  19. A person with integrity will respect themselves and the people around them. There's no better way to live. Think of everything we could accomplish with just plain honesty.

  20. I've been fortunate to have been around many imaginative people in my life. Integrity is something that was instilled within me from a young age--it was something my father stressed. These are both good words and enough for me.

  21. Imagination and Integrity are very much admired traits in a good friend. But I also like an impulsive friend. On that ready to go and have a great time.

I also like the a bit Insane... IN A GOOD WAY of course. Innovative is another. Inquisitive about life is a fun friend ... I am on a roll today. Idealistic, Illustrious, Incisive, Immaculate (love a clean friend). lol.

  23. I agree with all of the above…

  24. Being around imaginative people exhilarates me.

People who lack integrity are toxic. They tend to drag everyone and everything down.

  25. All of my friends are creative! I totally agree with you on this one!

  26. Hi Sharon,
'I', 'I', 'I', I wonder what today's letter is in the great 'Alphabet Challenge'? :)
Oh, today is a vowel day. And thus, today's posting is brought to you by, the letter 'I'.
Something to describe a friend beginning with ummm..the letter'I'? Inspirational and that, my dear friend, describes you:)
    Take care.
